Trick or T-T-T-reat in the C-C-C-old!

What's a little light snow and freezing temperatures to a determined trick or treater? Not much of a deterrent I'll say! It was a pretty miserable day weather-wise for poor Halloween Revelers here in Camillus. The town's first ever fall harvest fest was packed with fun things to do for kids and families, but the weather kept all but the die-hards from coming out. By the time trick or treat time came we had seen our first snow of the season (more like wet, white rain) but luckily nothing stuck at all and it was dry when the kids headed out.

Corinna went next door to one house and did her best "trickortreat" sound and was THRILLED when candy got put in the bag. Then back home with mom to hand out candy. The boys, with Natia, Kaitlin, Kim, and Charlie braved the temps and scored candy big-time. This is quite THE neighborhood for candy handouts! My favorite part of the night--trading all the candy you don't want--was loaded as Natia, Jake, and Aidan spread out all over the living room floor and thoroughly went through their loot. The boys were so good. Jake dressed as Spider-Monkey and Aidan as Mario.

The gang before heading out, Kitty Corinna is hiding behind Aidan.

Corinna's firs and only stop, next door.

Kaitlin was really getting into the spirit!

Corinna holding her treat bag taking it all in!

Mario loved his mustache and wore it for hours (EW!)

Spidermonkey, ready for anything.

Natia in her final costume of the season, the werewolf.

Our front stoop. Cue the creepy music coming out of the bushes and the strobe light
and it looked pretty darn cool!

My candy hander outter helper. She spent nearly all night taking candy out of the drawer and putting it into her bag. Emptying it and starting all over again. Adorable--until she figured out how to unwrap the candy without me seeing!

Super Soggy Groggy Sloppy Halloweenie

Halloween was a two-day, candy-filled, whirlwind of a celebration. On friday, Aidan had a party at preschool, Jake had a parade and a party at the elementary school. Spike's company had a trick or treat fest, too.

Saturday morning began with a trip to the Spider Spook-tacular at a local nature preserve. Luckily I got to be inches away from a tarantula yet again. Actually mommy and Corinna spent most of the time in the gift shop.

Jake and mommy braved the drizzle for the first mommy/Jake soccer game. Disasterous. Of course Jake had a good time in the beginning and was a great goalie. Then it started to rain harder and I had to fight the urge to pack it in even though he was covered in mud and it was cold and wet.

FINALLY--it was trick or treating time!! Boy trick or treating in the rain presents a certain set of challenges--especially with a 9 month old. But, at least it wasn't freezing! We ended up driving around with friends and it was awesome. I plan to drive next year even if it doesn't rain! The kids were soaked, but they didn't care at all.

So much candy, so much fun. Aidan was a transformer from the movie, Bumblebee (there were 3 other Bumblebees in his preschool class). Jake went as Heatblast from Ben-10, and Corinna dressed as an adorable little bunny, and matched her BFF, Madelyn.

Halloween treats

Tomorrow is halloween and I finally, actually am looking forward to it. Aidan and I just made some chocolate sprinkled covered pretzles for some folks for tomorrow. Didn't know if teachers and bus drivers, etc got treats. Aidan enjoyed stealing the pretzles and sprinkles, and playing with the white string, aside from that though...maybe next year.

Elmo Arrives

A sneak peek for Halloween. After weeks of changing his mind, Aidan finally insisted on a costume idea. ELMO. The costume came today and it is really cute. It has a voice box that you can push that mimics Elmo's laugh. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But it's cute nonetheless! Jakey's costume should be coming soon...Star Wars is the big hint.
