My Beautiful Dead Flowers

These are the most beautiful flowers I've ever gotten. Yes they are dead, and well, I had to cut a little mold off the stems, but I just love them. They began life as a birthday bouquet for Tara. Back on Dec 27. They prettied up the kitchen table for a long while. When they were past their prime, I tossed them over the porch railing onto a bed of snow and ice. Certain that by the time the snow melted and anyone was out there again, the flowers would have blown away, been eaten by a fierce flower eating rodent, or otherwise dispersed. Well, that didn't happen, we had a mini- New York January heatwave with a 50 degree day and the boys played outside and the snow melted. And there was the knock at the front door. And Aidan was standing there, so lovingly carrying all the dead flowers he found outside. "Look mama, I picked them just for you!" it was so sweet. I had to keep them. So they are once again prettying up the table, but just a little further away from the food.

Gotta Dance!

After patiently waiting for weeks, Aidan finally started Dance Class today! He was so excited! The class focuses on movement and is more of a "fun-time dance" than a structured ballet class. He said he had a lot of fun, especially when he got to bang the drum. Parents aren't allowed in during class, but he didn't seem to mind.

Happy Mother's Day

Aidan performed a little Mother's Day song at preschool yesterday. It was adorable. He couldn't sit still, he was dancing in his seat. Well, we'll just call it dancing ;-)

His project said "I love my mother because....she cooks me dinner." I think he forgot to add the part where he refuses to eat the dinner and whine at the table. But it was so sweet regardless. And I got lots of hugs. It was a surprise and he wouldn't say a word before class.

Fun at the Dentist

The big adventure for the day was going to the dentist with Aidan. He was EXCELLENT. I think he was better than most adults. The dentist was awesome with him. They had a nice TV in the room and he watched spongebob the whole time. He could have cared less about being poked. He's got very good/clean teeth, but he's got a big overbite--which I never noticed until they showed me in the office and now I can't stop looking at it...And a crowded jaw so he'll probably need braces. Figured that because Spike and I both had them. Then the boys tricked us into going to toys r us. (They used their own money) they all put on cute faces and said that they had been so sick they needed toys.

Getting Snorgasized

I was doing the dishes this afternoon (really an endurance exercise given how much my belly sticks out from the sink!) and all of the sudden, Aidan comes flying into the kitchen and immediately begins emptying the cabinet where we keep the pots and pans. Since he's never done this before I asked what he was doing. "I 'snorgasizing' them. Daddy gonna be sooo happy when he come home and see." So he thoroughly emptied the cabinet and quickly lost interest in the project. He said that when dad got home, he could snorgasize them. I convinced him that we could do it together and we put all the pots and pans back. Aidan beamed with pride at HIS hard work.

Elmo Arrives

A sneak peek for Halloween. After weeks of changing his mind, Aidan finally insisted on a costume idea. ELMO. The costume came today and it is really cute. It has a voice box that you can push that mimics Elmo's laugh. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. But it's cute nonetheless! Jakey's costume should be coming soon...Star Wars is the big hint.
