Aidan's Mario Galaxy Super FIVE Fun Fest

Aidan's fifth birthday party was out of this world! Well, more like into the Mario Galaxy. We celebrated his half-decade of life on a beautiful fall day indulging in his latest obsession--Mario Brothers. We kicked it old school with party games like duck duck goose, hot potato, and limbo. The kids LOVED it!! Aidan couldn't stop smiling all day all his best pals from school and his cousins helped him celebrate.

Aidan (dressed as Mario) blows out his candles. It was cute --he did make a wish before blowing out the candles. He whispered "I wish I had every videogame. (sorry world peace, it will have to wait for birthday #6 maybe) to himself then blew out the candles

The birthday cake. After a disasterous first try baking, this one came out pretty good! I surprised the kids with a galaxy blue layer of cake.

Kaitlin didn't quite get the 'hot potato' game, but she sure loved dancing in the center!
The group playing our Mario version of hot potato (hot galaxy stars). It may have appeared rigged, but the first two winners were Jake and Aidan.

Before we began the chocolate gold coin search, everyone needed to don their Mario mustaches and hats.

The many Marios spread out over the yard to find the gold coins.

Corinna got into the spirit of things...

Limbo--you never fail to make for a good time.

Why I  love this picture: Corinna seizes the moment, while Kaitlin is distracted by the game, to run over and try to steal her chocolates.

Happy Birthday AIDAN!

Our big guy turned 4! Hard to believe it! He had a great birthday celebration. I made cupcakes (with Buzz Lightyear decorations) and Spike, Corinna, and I brought them to preschool for a class party. It was awesome, he had all his pals, a special hat, and boy did he get a kick out of Spike seeing his school! The teachers were wonderful and welcomed us and made Aidan feel really special.

He had opened a few gifts before school (Jake got to open 2 also, so he didn't feel bad) and then magically when he got home from school, there were MORE presents. Oh what fun for him!

Saturday was his Toy Story themed birthday party. Aside from his Aunts and grandpa, we just invited a few friends from his preschool class. It worked out since it was the first time we'd ever had to hold a party inside. Boy--inside parties accentuate the crazy! The cake was so much fun to make. And Aidan LOVED it. As I gave him a kiss good night, he looked up at me and said "I loved my cake." totally unsolicited and so mushy-gushy feeling. Aw.

He CLEANED up in the gift department. Every single one was his favorite pretty much. Lots of Toy Story themed gifts including a Wii game which the whole family has played. Grandpa picked up an old fashioned scooter which both boys have been scooting around on and loving. Happy Birthday little man.

Spongebob Bday fun

Saturday we celebrated Aidan's bday a little early and had his 3rd bday party. For the first time we had the party at a place other than our home, Party Playhouse, and for the first time I didn't make his cake (gulp!). But it was a great party and Aidan had a blast. So did Jake. Aidan said his favorite things were eating the cake and playing air hockey.

The spongebob themed party had a 'build a buddy' activity that allowed all the kids to build an animal friend complete with adoption certificate and take home box. There was a great ice cream cake from Frosty Rock and pizza from Bada Bing. Dee-Licious pizza! There was lots of running around and playing. The best part was showing up and leaving without cleaning!!
